The National Weather Service Las Vegas has forecast a heavy rain and flooding event in Mohave County beginning this evening and continuing through Friday.
A NWS press release states that water could be flowing in normally dry washes, flood channels and low water crossings in San Bernardino and Mohave counties.
“Roads may be impassable due to flooding or flood damage. …Water may enter and damage structures and homes,” the statement reports.
The release states that travel delays could be experienced at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nev., because of strong winds, rain and low ceilings.
The weather event in Mohave County is expected to begin this evening, peaking Thursday morning, decreasing late Thursday into Friday. Anywhere from .5 to 1 inch of rain could fall and in some cases locally, well above 1 inch.
For those traveling in the Mohave County area and in Lake Havasu City specifically, caution should be taken when entering normally dry washes and areas that often flood during moderate to heavy rain.
