Lake Havasu High School has a new athletic director and his name is Brady Krueger. Krueger took on the position following former director Roger Burger’s move to principal of Nautilus Elementary School.

Krueger relocated to Lake Havasu City more than 12 years ago when he left Wisconsin after accepting a job at Thunderbolt Middle School. He spent five years teaching social studies at Thunderbolt before moving to the high school, where he taught U.S. history and psychology.

Becoming the high school’s athletic director was the perfect fit for Krueger, who grew up playing sports and spent many years coaching basketball and track.

“Sports play a huge role in my life, they have connected my family; my dad, brothers, uncles, and kids, it’s something we can all share,” said Krueger. “When it came time to give back [to the community], coaching was my way to do that.”

Krueger and his wife Tonya have three kids, Sophie and Ellie, 5, and Caris, 9 months, and they have recently ventured into the world of children’s’ sports.

“We just started soccer and it’s been exciting to see and experience soccer through the eyes of a 5-year-old,” said Krueger.

Outside of work, Brady enjoys reading, traveling, golfing and spending time with his family and friends.

Tonya looks forward to her husband’s time as the new athletic director, saying, “Brady has always had a passion for education and athletics. His leadership will be an asset to our community. Attending events, participating in fundraisers and socializing with the LHHS athletic family is something our whole family is looking forward to.”

As athletic director, Krueger wants to expand on the program Burger spent 15 years carefully crafting.

“We have a solid athletic foundation thanks to Roger,” said Krueger. “I want to build on what he built and help the athletics be competitive at all levels, and give something the school and community can be proud of.”

Fall sports, such as football, cross country and volleyball, begin after the first day of school, which is Aug. 7 for schools within the Lake Havasu Unified School District.
