The program, now in its 19th year, is a “comprehensive leadership development program designed to identify resources and educate individuals to assume leadership roles within our community,” according to the Chamber website.

“Leadership Lake Havasu is an intensive nine-month series of programs that investigate leadership issues and obstacles and offer training and solutions through lectures and activities,” said Nancy Darrow, Leadership Lake Havasu Education Chair. “It offers a unique ‘back door’ tour and insight into what drives our community.”

To participate in the program, those interested who live or work within the Lake Havasu area must submit an application packet including a cover letter, an organizational endorsement form, a current resume, letter of recommendation and a $150 deposit. The full cost of the program is $650 for Chamber of Commerce members and $900 for nonmembers.

Past LLH classes have participated in community projects such as “Lighting on Main Street” and last year’s popular “Night at the Drive In.”

Teri Jameson, a previous attendee of the LLH program, was so moved by the program that she stayed on to co-chair the following year’s class, along with staying available to offer mentorship to current attendees.

“LLH is a fabulous program; I learned so much about myself,” said Jameson. “My biggest takeaway was learning to listen. I learned that everyone has their story and their story is what makes each of us unique in our own way and we all have something wonderful to offer this beautiful Lake Havasu community.”

Those interested in learning more about the program or submitting an application can call the Chamber of Commerce at 928-855-4115 or refer to their website, http://www.havasuchamber.com/our-community/havasu_leadership_development.aspx. The deadline for applying is July 31.
