Participants walked up McCulloch Blvd. Saturday morning for Interagency’s  Hunger Awareness Walk. The walkers wore orange shirts to raise awareness that September is Hunger Awareness month.

    The Hunger Awareness Walk is the kick off event for Hunger Action Month which is September. It is intended to spur people to volunteer, donate and advocate to to help alleviate hunger in our local community. The Hunger Awareness Walk was organized by the LHC Food Providers Network. Members of the Network are Interagency Council Community Food Bank, Our Lady of the Lake Soup Kitchen, Yucca Community Food Pantry, Salvation Army, Lake Havasu City Senior Center, University of Arizona SNAP Ed., Lake Havasu Unified School District Child Nutrition Department, St Vincent De Paul Food Bank and St Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. Event sponsors; Calvary Baptist Church, University of Arizona SNAP Ed., Hangin’ Over Havasu, Smith’s, Our Lady of the Lake Community Soup Kitchen. A big thank you to the Young Marine Corps and other community members for taking action by helping to create awareness.
