Grace Arts Live, Lake Havasu’s performing arts theatre, opened its 11th season Friday, with a three-week run of “Oklahoma!” the musical. The show, created by famed prtners Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, “changed the course of American musical theatre.” Oklahoma! is set in western Indian territory just after the turn of the 20th century, and highlights the love between cowboy Curly McLean and farm girl Laurey.
The show features a star guest performer, Matthew Malecki, as Curly. Malecki is a Disneyland castmember who currently performs in “Frozen: Live at the Hyperion,” at Disneyland’s California Adventure in Anaheim.
Starring alongside Malecki are Havasu locals Zoe Killian, Alex Compomizzi, Erin McIntyre, Jason Fallis, and Jack Weldon, along with more than a dozen other cast members.
“Oklahoma!” will run Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m., Oct. 6-8, 13-15 and 20-22. For more information, please contact Grace Arts Live at 928-505-2787 or visit them online at www.graceartslive.com. The theater is located at 2146 McCulloch Blvd.
