The 44th Annual Polar Bear Plunge took place at Lake Havasu State Beach Saturday afternoon. More than 40 people signed up for the first of the three plunges into the water. The youngest to jump in was 9 years old and the oldest was 78.

According to a sign at the beach at the time of the plunge, the air temp was 50 degrees and water temp 49 degrees.

One of the participants, Marilyn Dockery, jumped in the water for her husband. She said he had participated every year for the past seven years, but this year because of health issues he wasn’t able to participate so she did it for him.
