Fifth Graders Learning To Make Good Choices

Lake Havasu City’s fifth graders were awarded for their participation in the N.O.V.A. Principles Program.

N.O.V.A. was designed to provide a resource to children, families and communities to fight against harmful influences, while providing guidance toward positive opportunities and values.

Developed by an Orem, Utah police officer, the program teaches principles-based decision making that goes beyond other prevention and education programs. The curriculum includes lessons that help youth and parents deal with drugs, gangs, accountability, making good choices, anger management, internet safety, self esteem, bullying and media issues.

Friday’s program at Starline Elementary honored fifth-grade students, teachers and administrators from Starline, Jamaica, Nautilus, Oro Grande, Smoketree, Telesis Preparatory Academy and Havasu Preparatory Academy who participated in N.O.V.A.

N.O.V.A. Rocket Winners were Dane Dreisbach, of Starline Elementary and Tanner Wright, of Nautilus Elementary.

Elected officials and other community leaders were on hand at Starline to help the participants celebrate completion of the program.
