The annual event raises funds by selling miniature yellow rubber ducks as race tickets, followed by the race down the channel beneath the London Bridge. Tickets were sold at local businesses throughout Lake Havasu City for $5, and those with the fastest ducks, earned a trophy and cash prize.
This year’s winners coming in first place was Julie Mallory winning $1,000.
Second place was “R. Kitchen” taking home $250.
Third place, was Linda Taylor taking home $100.
Last place was the Cool Dude “Ronald” taking home $50.
According to Western Arizona Humane Society Executive Director Patty Gilmore, the event brought in funds with the help of sponsorships and ticket sales and was happy with the turn out.
“My staff and all the volunteers, but especially all those who are the supporters of the Humane Society, made this all happen, and I am proud to say we raised over $30,000,” Gilmore said as she addressed the crowd.
This years theme was “It’s Five -O- Clock Somewhere”. All funds raised will stay local and will benefit the Western Arizona Humane Society.
