Annual Holiday Hoedown Brings Cheer To All Abilities Community

Crafts, dancing, music and lots of cheer filled the New Horizons Center for the annual Holiday Hoedown event for all abilities and community members Dec. 15.

The event is in its second year in partnership with Rise Services, Milemarkers, and is sponsored by Anderson Auto group and parent and community member Cindy Keasey.

“The reason I got involved in this event is because I have a son who has attended New Horizons for over 20 years and just like family, I will do anything for those guys at the center to make their life better,” Keasey said.

The event involved a country fun-themed Christmas party which included food, cotton candy, a hot cocoa bar, cookie decorating and the opportunity to take a photo with Mr. and Mrs. Clause and a photo booth. A DJ entertained the residents and guests.

“Everyone loves a party. They get a night with their friends, family and people that love them. It helps to bring people together. I want my son and all his friends to enjoy everything they can in life they deserve that and more, so having events like this does so much for the community,” Keasey said.

Sponsors and volunteers included New Horizons, Milemarkers, Rise Services, Anderson Auto Group and community members.

“Anderson is a big sponsor. They do so much for the community. So blessed to have them. It takes a village to raise a child without the loving staff at New Horizons and all agencies and support from the community as well I don’t know how I would have made it.

“It takes a special type of person. All the staff do an amazing job. They are the heroes everyday,” Keasey said.
