The contest began 51 years ago as one of the many October events celebrated during the
dedication of the London Bridge when it relocated from London, England,to Lake Havasu
City, in 1971. Now 51 years later, the contest continues under the bridge
with spectators, music and some of the most amazing beards and mustaches found in
Mohave County.

The most recent addition to the contest is the women’s categories, Whiskerina Realistic and Whiskerina Creative. No, women don’t have to grow facial hair for this. Many contestants bring their ponytails around front for a beard or mustache effect while others choose to create some of the most unique beard designs from an array of arts and crafts materials.
There is still time for local businesses to sign up and sponsor this fun event tradition. Call 928-706-4469 for sponsor details and marketing opportunities.
