The last Sunday in September is designated nationally as Gold Star Mothers Day. Gold Star Mothers were honored in a ceremony in Lake Havasu City Sunday evening at Wheeler Park.
Gold Star Mothers are those who lost sons and daughters in the military service.
Speakers at the event included Judge Mitchell Kaulali, Sen. Sonny Borrelli, and Mayor Cal Sheehy. Dignitaries and family representatives also lit candles for each of the mothers.
The mothers in attendance were Lori Deysie, Mona Hester, Carol Merritt, and Nancy Bennett.
