A little bit of rain wasn’t enough to keep Lake Havasu City from coming out to support local facilities battling cancer on Saturday afternoon. The Denise’s Day 9th Annual Cancer Benefit concert event kicked off at 4 p.m. and continued into the evening.

Tickets to the event were $10, and all proceeds went directly toward helping local families in Lake Havasu City battling cancer.

“When insurance companies can’t help, Denise’s Day can.”

Highlights from the day’s event included live musical performances from solo artist Matt Farris, as well as the group Kevin Jaxon & Midnight Sun on the Boom Bandit Stage.

Matt Farris is a popular country music artist originally from Lake Havasu City. He’s shared stages with some of the genre’s biggest names, including Trace Adkins and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Kevin Jaxon & Midnight Sun is a local five-piece Funk / R&B / Top 40 Dance band. Members include Lucky LaRue on bass guitar, Michael Hotham on keyboard, Kevin Jackson on lead vocals and lead guitar, Robert Cameron on the drums and Tenille Werner on saxophone and vocals.

Attendees also enjoyed plenty of food, beer provided by Mudshark Brewing Co., and giveaways. Denise’s Day is a local cancer fundraiser, raising money for Lake Havasu families since 2010 in remembrance of Denise Madrid. Madrid ultimately lost her battle with cancer. Her legacy is kept alive by the fundraising efforts of the “Denise’s Day” crew year-round.
