Gold Star Mother Day Celebrated In Lake Havasu City

The Lake Havasu City Military Moms presented a special ceremony Sunday evening for Gold Star Mother’s Day at Wheeler Park.

The ceremony honors Gold Star Mothers that have lost sons and daughters while they were serving in the U.S. Military.

Former Mayor Mark Nexsen emceed the event and Marine Corps League Detacment 757 Color Guard posted the colors with the Lake Havasu Military Moms leading those in attendance with the Pledge of Alligence.

Sisto Sandoval opened with a prayer and Mayor Cal Sheehy and Judge Kalauli both spoke during the ceremony.

Members of the Echo Band of Brothers lit candles in honor of the following:

Mona Hester and her children Jamie Heister, Evelyn Hester-Swigert, and son-in-law Hector Jimenez

Sally Hook and her son Josiah Gregory Harris

Nancy Bennett and her son Kenneth Wade Bennet

Janet Mahan and her son Eric Hammar
