Kick Off Party For Michael Alan’s 24-Hour Sleepless For A Cure Begins

It’s time again for Michael Alan Furniture and Design’s 24-Hour Sleepless for a Cure event.

For 17 years, Michael Alan has annually hosted this one of a kind charity experience, where volunteers spend the night staying awake raising money to benefit breast cancer prevention through early detection screenings, specifically the MOM Mobile On-site Mammography Unit that arrives monthly at Michael Alan. To date, $585,924 has been raised for this cause, with all the funds staying in the community.

This year, the theme is “Mythology,” which approximately 60 participants used to design their assigned beds with dazzling, creative displays. The public is welcome to view the bed displays and vote for their favorite. Also consider making a donation bid in the silent auction filled with incredible items and prize baskets from local individuals and businesses until Sept. 21, at 1 p.m.

The kick off party began at 5 p.m. Friday, with cake and champagne with Breast Friends and Cancer Care Resource, following the Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting and proclamation by the mayor. To keep awake all night collecting donations, the participants will be constantly engaged in activities from a trip to Movies Havasu, a fashion show, games and more.
