Cancer.

Just the sound of the word can be heart-stopping and when it is diagnosed, it’s devastating.

It can be a life game changer for sure.

But for survivors, it’s cause for a celebration.

That’s just what happened in Lake Havasu City today when the Cancer Association of Lake Havasu hosted its annual Cancer Survivor Celebration.

The party started with a toast to those gathered, compliments of Shugrue’s. The guest speaker was survivor Chuck “Chewy” Childress, who was also the recipient of the Lena Angel Award.

Copper Sepulveda, a second grader who is also a cancer survivor, was honored at the breakfast and was presented with Spider Man-themed gifts, Arizona Diamondbacks tickets for himself and his family and a staycation at the London Bridge Resort where the whole family can enjoy hanging out by the pool.

The Cancer Association announced that it has partnered with Heidi Edwards Cooking For Cancer to provide financial assistance to those in need who are making their way through the disease and all its facets.

The Cancer Association of Havasu’s mission is to educate, assist and support cancer-related needs in the greater Lake Havasu community with low-cost labs, cancer screenings, support groups and hope.
