The Lake Havasu High School Band recently traveled to California and performed at the Music in the Park Festival May 13.
The wind and percussion ensemble group performed their concert pieces for an audience as well as judges. They received a rating of “Excellent” on their performance, taking home first place in their division among California bands, and they also received an award for best band “Overall” out of other high school bands.
The performances were at a local church in Placentia, Calif., and the awards ceremony was at Knott’s Berry Farm, where the band, among other music students, attended the theme park all day on May 13.
“I am so incredibly proud of these students and their accomplishments this year – they have worked so hard and have improved so much,” band director Kimberly Schreiber said.
“We had such a great time and many amazing memories were made that will last these students’ lifetimes. I remember my high school days going to festivals like these with my friends in band, and they were some of the best memories I have,” she said.
