Parks and Recreation Advisory Board To Add New Kids Corner To Board Meetings

From parks and recreational facilities to planning programs that bring residents together, Lake Havasu City’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Board plays an important role in shaping the community’s recreational opportunities.

The meetings are also not your typical one, they are taking steps to make sure they are family friendly by providing activities for children to participate in during those meetings.

“We are excited to introduce the addition of activities for our youth to enjoy while the meeting takes place,” said Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Vice Chair, Mercedes Kaiser.

“We’ll be trying out a self-serve crafts and coloring station along with snacks for the littles and adults.”

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, known as PRAB, is made up of eight regular members, one student body member and one City Council member as a liaison.

As members of the Havasu community, they bring local perspectives to the table, shining a spotlight on issues, concerns, ideas and events involving parks and recreation.

The board works with the city through vision, planning and development, helping consider how parks, facilities and recreational services can continue to serve both residents and visitors.

In order to help more families attend, the new Kids Corner will be on site at the upcoming board meeting.

“We want to make our meetings more friendly, inviting and available to parents with children who may not normally come to a meeting, as such may feel too formal. On that note, this upcoming Monday night will be the first time my own kids have joined in attendance.” Kaiser said.

For residents who enjoy Havasu’s parks, programs and recreational spaces, the meetings offer an opportunity to stay informed and see how community recreation continues to evolve.

“We would love to see more faces at our meetings, and change the overall environment to be more welcoming and approachable to members of our community, whose families are more impacted by the mission and actions of Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation,” Kaiser said.

Residents interested in learning more about parks and recreation planning are welcome to attend board meetings.

Meetings are open to the public and held at 6 p.m., on the fourth Monday of every other month in the Lake Havasu City Council Chambers, located at 92 Acoma Blvd. South, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403

Members of the Board Include; Chair, Kyler Cox, Ashley Pascual, Filomena Roberts, Alex Coletta, Jason Usry, William Byers, Paige Allgood, Vice Chair, Mercedes Kaiser and Lake Havasu City Council member Liaison Cameron Moses.
