“The Pirates of Penzance” is an entertaining comedy about Frederic, who having come to 21 years of age, means to be free of his apprenticeship to a band of rather kind-hearted pirates.
Frederic is played by Ian Riedel and the ringleader of the pirates, the enigmatic Pirate King, is Bill Weldon. Jackie Murphy plays Frederic’s nursemaid Ruth, who has been the only woman and mother figure Frederic has ever known.

Thinking he is freed of the pirates, Frederic falls immediately in love with Mabel, played by Betsy Heredia, the daughter of major general Stanley, portrayed by the director of the production, Jason Fallis. But as it turns out, Frederic is honor bound to the pirates for 63 more years, having been born on Feb. 29 in leap year. Hijinks ensue accompanied by lovely vocals and fast-paced musical numbers in this all dancing, high energy show.
