Mohave County nonprofit programs the Norona Effect and Travel for Treatment have been absorbed into Somewhere Out of the Box DBA Milemarkers, according to a recent press release.

Milemarkers will continue the Travel for Treatment Program and will add No Place Like Home and the Compass Scholarship Programs with this merge.

Travel for Treatment provides financial assistance to qualifying residents of Mohave County. These residents are forced to travel outside of Mohave County for medical care of a dependent minor child. Grants are provided to minimize the financial burden of missed work days, fuel, lodging and other costs.

No Place Like Home is a program focused on building a community of diverse, highly trained professionals with a desire to serve the needs of children living, learning and playing in Mohave County. It provides financial support and mentoring to professionals who desire to further their training or hone their expertise within their chosen fields.

The program also aims to bring professionals with specialized training in to our community by providing financial assistance for training, relocation or incentives.

No Place Like Home aims to build the capacity of the community to address the unique needs of children in Mohave County. Travel places an enormous burden on families and when a child needs specialized care, there is no place like home.

The Compass Scholarship provides financial assistance to families to cover the cost of necessary equipment, supplies or materials that are recommended by a treatment team. The mission is to ensure that financial constraints do not limit a child’s potential for success, by providing funding for the equipment and supplies needed on the road to success.

Applications for these programs will be reviewed and selected by a volunteer committee consisting of Nicole Norona, Breanna Synder, Vijette Saari, Rebecca Pehling and Mandy Connelly. To donate to any of the above programs, contact Amber Whitaker at cfo@milemarkers.us or 928-954-5439.
