The Bridgewater Channel was closed Saturday morning for the 10th Annual Lake Havasu Divers Association Under the London Bridge Underwater Cleanup. Divers went under the water to removed trash and other items.

Twenty-four divers and 22 land volunteers, plus USCG Auxiliary and Mohave County Sheriff’s Department Boating personnel, spent more than 20 hours underwater in a four-hour time span retrieving 258 beer cans,18 non-alcohol cans, beads, red solo cups, a wallet, many, many pairs of sunglasses, hats, children toys, a beer bong, a mask, a dog leash, two working flashlights, SUP paddle and a bottle of Captain Morgan.

According to Capt. Kathy Weydig, of the Divers Association, six new and two seasoned Sea Scout divers participated for the first time along with parents on paddle boards and kayaks.

The Lake Havasu High School Renaissance Club cleaned and recycled the aluminum cans. Donut Post provided power rings and coffee, Romer Beverage supplied drinks and club member Craig Laser donated hot dogs.
