Arizona Adaptive Water Sports hosted an all-encompassing day Friday on Lake Havasu for those who require assistance with water sports for all abilities.
Crystal Jackson, a kayak volunteer said, “There are athletes that are coming here who haven’t been able to water ski without assistance, so there are people here to assist them.
“Our volunteers and experts are taking them out on boats for boat rides, on the kayaks for kayak rides, on the jet skis for jet ski rides.”
Jackson estimated there were about 100 people on hand for the event, with about three quarters of those being staff and volunteers.
“I love it. Being outside and being able to help people and give back to those who enjoy water sports. I raised my kids doing water sports and the grand babies, camping all that. I think this is something people should explore and to be able to be out on the water,” she said.
“It’s important for them to be able to be outdoors and do outdoor sports and be a part of the community. It gives them pleasure.
“These kids that come down here are so excited. They can’t wait to get their life jacket on and they’re cheering everybody on,” she said.
Here are photos of the event.
