At 8:30 a.m. on May 28th, more than 25 Home Depot staff members from Lake Havasu City and as far away as Flagstaff came to support local community schools.
Starline Parent Teacher Association and LHUSD facilities services personnel Tony Testa worked on a grant that provided $14,000 in materials and donated labor to rebuild temporary walls in classrooms to provide more stability, structure and safety for students and staff.
Testa ssaid, “In the decade I’ve worked here, I’ve always prioritized student safety – working with Chris Gregory, the general manager at Lake Havasu City’s Home Depot, has made this dream I’ve had for students a reality.”

The crew started its day with a Home Depot cheer; they understand the power and impact they have here. Testa helped set the stage by tearing down all the temporary walls with the donation of a rollaway from Niki Nickle and Republic Services.
Lunch was provided to this hardworking crew by Ginny Sautner Sautner, the principal.
Sautner said, “The partnership we have with our community is something so extraordinary and special – we never take for granted the support we receive from Lake Havasu City, and we try to honor that by being our best at Starline each and every day for children.”

Lake Havasu City’s community never fails to support Lake Havasu Unified School District, providing donations and support for today’s youth.
At the start of summer vacation, the hallways of most schools are empty, but not here. Purple is the usual color in the hallways – today, it was Home Depot orange.
