Arizona State University at Lake Havasu City welcomed approximately 180 new students to the campus for the 2021 fall semester during “welcome week” this last week.

This is the largest enrollment to date since the campus opened its doors in the fall of 2012.

“We are thrilled to welcome so many new students to this ASU location, and we’re looking forward to an exciting and productive 2021-22 academic year,”  said Executive Director, Dr. Carla Harcleroad.

The influx of students comes as no surprise considering ASU Havasu recently added the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which welcomed 32 new students to the nursing program. Another area of growth includes first-time international students. In Fall 2019, ASU Havasu hosted 7 first-time international students, and this Fall 2021, the location is welcoming 31 first-time international students, bringing the total number of international students to 57. Fifteen of these students are studying with ASU Havasu from their home countries.

Welcome week began Aug. 14, with students moving into the residence hall on campus and additional rooms for student overflow at the local Travel Lodge Hotel. Students moved into the residence hall, met with peers and ASU staff, and became familiar with the campus at the city of Lake Havasu. The rest of the week was spent learning about ASU resources, meeting faculty and staff members, and getting to know new classmates.

Students gathered Aug, 20, to end welcome week with rest and relaxation at ASU Havasu’s Beach Hut located at Windsor Beach. Here, students ate subs donated by Jimmy John’s, swam, paddle-boarded, kayaked and watched one of the many beautiful Lake Havasu City sunsets.

Even during the pandemic, ASU Havasu staff and faculty continue to work diligently to ensure record breaking enrollment. The staff, students, and faculty would like to thank the community of Lake Havasu for their continued support through contributions to academic scholarships, welcome baskets, gift cards, prizes and discounts to local businesses. With your help, ASU Havasu welcome week was a great success.
