The opportunity to get out and get moving for a good cause happens this weekend at the first “Annual Strides for Hope” Walk hosted by the Denise’s Day Foundation at Springberg McAndrew Park.
The Denise’s Day Foundation has been hosting fundraising events to raise money for cancer since 2010 in memory of Denise Madrid who died from the disease. This year, the organization will host the walk to raise money to help families battling cancer.
“In the past years, we have held benefit concerts and helped so many individuals and families, so this year we wanted to continue to help more families and thought it would be good to have the community involved and host a walk,” said Heather Courneya, coordinator of the event. “We will have a stream of people in pink shirts walking down McCulloch Boulevard.”
Food and beverages along with live performances from local bands will also be on hand. All proceeds from the event will go to families battling cancer.
The walk will begin at Springberg Park, located across from McKee’s Bar and Grill on McCulloch Boulevard. Registration and check-in begins at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 a.m.
