Families And Community Gather At Annual Back To School Health Fair

Families and local organizations gathered at the 15th Annual Back to School Health Fair at the Lake Havasu Aquatic Center, Saturday. Safety helmets, screenings, immunizations and family resources were provided to attendees,  thanks to the Community Health Foundation and many sponsors who stepped in to help.

Lake Havasu Rotary provided free helmets and Sunrise Rotary Club provided refreshments, London Bridge Rotary Club along with  Havasu Regional Medical Center  provided sports physicals. Regional Center For Border Health Inc., provided free immunizations.  Families even got the chance to be included in a bike giveaway drawing sponsored by Republic Services. Popcorn was provided by Anderson Autogroup and water was donated by Servpro.

Activity stations along with plenty of resources for families was also on hand as well as a performance by the Lake Havasu Ballet.

“This is the second year that the Young Adult Association of Havasu and Arizona Youth Partnership have participated in this event,” said vendor  Ricarda DeAnda with Young Adult Association of Havasu and Arizona Youth Partnership.

“This event is very important to let the community know what resources are available to them and to help prepare youth and families for school.”

Financial Sponsors included Next Care, River Medical, Lake Havasu Girl Scouts, Care1st, Health Choice and Jamie Hindley.

A family free swim which included free pizza  was provided by the Elks Lodge organization following the fair.

Every year, the Lake Havasu Health Foundation hosts the Back to School Health Fair which provide many families with free school required immunizations as well as health screenings.

” This is very important to have because we offer free school immunizations and much needed sports physicals for children participating in their school athletic programs,” said Joni Spencer Community Health Foundation Fair Coordinator early this summer before the fair.
