Lake Havasu City Observes 9/11 25th Anniversary

Sept. 11, 2001, is a day that many remember where they were and what they were doing when the Twin Towers fell.

Twenty-five years later, Lake Havasu City residents, visitors and city officials still come together and remember those lives lost on 9/11.

For some Lake Havasu and Desert Hills firefighters, as well as CTE students, Friday started at 5 a.m., when they arrived at the London Bridge to walk up and down the stairs in honor of those that ran into the Twin Towers. The firefighters and students walked up and down the steps 21 times.

Then at 8:15 a.m., Lake Havasu City and state officials, as well as the Lake Havasu Military Moms and local veterans, all gathered at London Bridge Beach in a solemn ceremony.

Flags were raised then lowered to half-staff. Thunderbolt Middle School and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church students sang patriotic themed songs, and Mayor Cal Sheehy and Judge Mitch Kaulali spoke to the crowd.
