MCC Chili Cookoff Generates Funds For Junior College Sports

The food was hot at the Havasu Riviera Marina Saturday for the Mohave Community College Chili Cook Off.

Chili chefs prepared the fall staple dish in a number of styles including Traditional Red, Homestyle and Chili Verde (Green Chili).

In addition to some great chili, the event featured live entertainment, vendors and a vintage automobile display.

Funds generated by the event will benefit the National Junior College Athletic Association men’s and women’s soccer teams.

Prizes were awarded in each category for first, second and third place.

 

The winners are:

Homestyle

1st: Steve Barnes, Golden Valley, Ariz.

2nd: Larry Eastep, Surprise, Ariz.

3rd: Gary Catalano, Huntington Beach, Calif.

 

Traditional Red

1st: Paul D. Whitney, DDS, Flagstaff, Ariz.

2nd: Clark McGee, Chino Hills, Calif.

3rd: Charles Harber, Corona, Calif.

 

Chili Verde

1st: Ken Hook, Montgomery, Texas

2nd: Steve Barnes. Golden Valley, Ariz.

3rd: Michael Stewart, Loma Linda, Calif.

    having judged a lot of cook offs in the past and also helped put past cook off on in Havasu I would just like to say. You outdid yourself for a first time cook off, almost flawless and well received by the public and the cooks. hoping you bring it back every year and good luck to the MCC soccer teams.
