Vilma Urbina was named “Woman of the Year” Thursday evening at a Women With Willpower dinner. She was nominated by Denise Johnk and Charlene Pruden for the honor.

Urbina opened her first assisted living home in 2013 and has since opened two more homes, employs 20 people and provides care and housing for 22 residents.

In their nominating letter, Johnk and Pruden wrote, “She also holds her staff to very high standards and has built an outstanding reputation for the quality of care the residents receive at Gems Assisted Living.”

Sarah Stinnett was runner up  and Sara Dennen was third. The dinner took place at the London Bridge Resort King Arthur’s Room.
