A fundraiser will be Saturday under the London Bridge to send Ciera Norona and her family to Disneyland.

Ciera is only 3 1/2 years old, but she has already been through a lifetime of hospital procedures. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia when she was just 18 months old.

Obtaining the treatments Ciera needs has been a huge financial and physical hardship on the Norona family because Lake Havasu has no pediatric facilities to treat children under 18 years of age. They have to drive Ciera to Las Vegas for treatments.

Ciera’s mother, Nicole “Nikki” Norona, along with her two sisters Tracy Henry and Brooke Queen, created a nonprofit called The Norona Effect to build state of the art pediatric infusion centers in rural areas. The nonprofit’s first build will be in Lake Havasu. They will continue to open these centers so children can receive cancer treatments, as well as other treatments for life-threatening diseases, in their home town.

Ciera dreams of going to Disneyland, and members of the Lake Havasu community are working to raise $5,000 to send Ciera, her sister Sophia, and her parents Nikki and Marcos Norona to the Magic Kingdom.

The benefit, “Ciera’s Dream,” sponsored by Burgers By The Bridge, D’Uva Plumbing, and the Lake Havasu Social Group, starts with a meet and greet at 4 p.m. Saturday under the London Bridge. The Marine Corps League Detachment 757 will post the colors at 5:45 p.m. and a “Singles Auction” will begin at 6 p.m. Winning bidders will have a “Dream Date” with one of 16 bachelors or bachelorettes. Local band Anthem will provide live music, and a DJ will also provide entertainment. A professional auctioneer will conduct the auctions.

More than 100 local businesses have donated items for raffle and auction, including PWC rentals, free hotel stays, jewelry, gift certificates and more. There will be raffles for more than 30 gift baskets, worth $100 or more. Party Express will be decorating the stage with Disney balloons.

Anyone wishing to donate an item, service, or dream date person to this event may contact Harriet Mclearen at 734-837-6550 or mclearenh@yahoo.com. Donations may also be dropped off at D’Uva Plumbing, 1752 W. Acoma Blvd.

Harriet Mclearen, owner of Burgers By the Bridge, will donate 30 percent of all sales made on June 4 to this cause. Additionally, Enterprise Rental Car is providing a free rental car to and from Disneyland, as well as giving the family a free rental car for the next year for Ciera’s treatments in Las Vegas.

Sponsors urge everyone to join the fun and help as a community sends this family to Disneyland for some time away from the treatments and bills and help them make some cherished memories together. Bring a chair, smile, open heart and of course, your wallet to help make Ciera’s dream come true.
