THURSDAY, DEC. 1

15th Annual Christmas Tree Festival

The Christmas trees are set to be displayed 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 31 at Lake Havasu Museum of History. Museum admission is $5, children 12 and younger admitted free with an

10th annual Tree of Reflection Ceremony

This tree-lighting event honors individuals who have suffered with Alzheimer’s or dementia. The Alzheimer’s/Dementia Connection of Havasu is set to host the event at 4 p.m. throughout December, at the Island Mall in front of Barley Brothers. Havasu Top Chef & Wine Tasting Event

This event features appetizers alongside wine and beer with chefs from local eateries, all of who compete for the “Top Chef” prize. The city’s top mixologists also will compete for “Top Mixologist”. The event is 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at London Bridge Resort’s Convention Center. Tickets are $50/person or $100/per couple. They’re available for purchase at Hampton Inn, Chamber of Commerce, Schlotzsky’s, Quality Inn, The Nautical Beachfront Resort, Shugrue’s and London Bridge Resort. Ice Skating at the London Bridge

The ice skating rink at London Bridge Resort continues through Jan. 9, 2017. Hours include 5-11 p.m. Fridays; 3-11 p.m. Saturdays; 3-8p.m. Sundays; and Tuesdays and Thursdays 5-9p.m. Extended winter break hours are 3-11 p.m. Dec. 23 to Jan. 8. Christmas Eve 3-9 p.m., closed Christmas Day; New Year’s Eve/Day is regular hours. Admission is $10/adults and $8/children 12 and younger. For more information, visit www.iceskatehavasu.com. 21st Annual Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights is 6-10 p.m. and continues through Jan. 1, 2017. It is a holiday celebration of at least 500,000 twinkling lights aglow along the waterfront while choreographed with the beat of the music at London Bridge Resort. Admission is free.

 

FRIDAY, DEC. 2

34th annual Boat Parade of Lights

The London Bridge Yacht Club’s Boat Parade of Lights begins about 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3, in Bridgewater Channel. This is a must-see during Havasu’s holiday season. It’s a winter wonderland with as many as 50 boats lit up with decorations parading from Thompson Bay through Bridgewater Channel toward Windsor Beach and back again. This year’s theme is “Bright Ideas”. Free parking is available at the English Village and in the parking areas on the Island near the Channel. Admission is free. Triple Crown Sports Baseball Tournament

The tournament begins 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, through Sunday, Dec. 4 at various ball fields in Havasu including Rotary Community Park, ASU Campus, Dick Samp Park, Lake Havasu High School, and SARA Park. The annual event hosts at least 70 teams from California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. Admission is free. Havasu Jets Event

This radio-controlled airplane event is 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3, and continues 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Desert Hawks RC Field at SARA Park. Spectators admitted free and a $3 donation for parking is encouraged. On-site dry camping available during the event. Food and beverages available on site, too. SATURDAY, DEC. 3

Jingle Bell Walk & Fun Run 5K

The event’s registration opens at 8 a.m. and the run/walk begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Grand Island Park’s Disc Golf Course at Malibu Drive and McCulloch. Havasu Health Walk Challenge is hosting the annual event, which also coincides with an ugly sweater contest. Cost is $10/person, or $25/family of 3 or more (not more than two adults). 17th annual Winter Faire & Bargain Sale

The event is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Lake Havasu Senior Center, 450 S. Acoma Blvd., in Havasu. The sale includes items such as holiday gifts and decorations, linens, clothing, games, collectibles, jewelry, accessories, and crafts. Pastries, hot dogs, and refreshments available on site. 14th annual Christmas Tuba Concert

The event is 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Community Presbyterian Church, 3450 Chemehuevi Blvd. It includes high school, college and professional tuba, souse-phone, euphonium, and baritone players. All musicians are welcome to play. A required rehearsal is scheduled 12-3 p.m. Dec. 3. Admission is free.

 

Kiwanis 40th annual Toys for Tots Golf Tournament

SUNDAY, DEC. 4

Yoga Flow at London Bridge Resort

The event is 8-9 a.m. Sundays in front of the fountain at London Bridge Resort. Suitable for all ages and levels of experience. Instructed by registered yoga teacher Sharon O’Neill. Participation is $5, please pay the instructor.

 

Soroptimist 44th annual House and Garden Tour

The event is noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at various locations. It is a tour of some of Havasu’s most luxurious private homes. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 on the day of the tour. They’re available at Mohave State Bank, Michael Alan Furnishings, National Bank of Arizona (see Jamie), Desert Rose, Horizon Community Bank, The Mail Store on Smoketree, or from any Soroptimist member.

 

Wheeler Park Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony

This is the city’s 36th annual tree-lighting ceremony in Havasu is 6-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at Wheeler Park, 1801 N. McCulloch Blvd. The event includes a traditional story time and Christmas carols, Santa, cocoa, cookies, and candy canes. Admission is free.

Lake Havasu Community Choir’s Annual Christmas Concert

There are two performances, 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Lake Havasu High School Performing Arts Center, 2675 S. Palo Verde Blvd., in Havasu. This year’s theme is “A Christmas for All Ages”. Admission is $10/adults, and $5 for students. For more information, call Karen Cooke, 928-855-5130.

 

River Riders 33rd annual Toy Run

The event begins at noon on Sunday, Dec. 4, at Blue Bar II in Parker. The riders travel to Flying X Saloon in Havasu. Riders are welcome to join the hundreds who turn out each year. Cost is one new toy per rider, one toy per passenger. Toys collected upon the conclusion of the run. Rain or shine. The event is 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays at London Bridge Resort. Learn about the history of tea and the London Bridge while enjoying a variety of hot tasty, scones with clotted cream and jam, wafer cookies and cheesecakes. Cost is $10 per person.

FRIDAY, DEC. 9

Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce Desert Bash & Off-road Poker Run

The weekend event, which commences in Standard Wash off State Route 95, is sold out. It is hosted by Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce, and Arizona West Allsports Inc.

 

SATURDAY, DEC. 10

Children’s Community Celebration

The event is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, at Rotary Community Park ball fields, 1400 S. Smoketree Ave, in Havasu. This event is formerly known as the Children’s Community Christmas Party. It includes arts and crafts, a petting zoo, inflatable bouncers, Santa, games, food, and refreshments. The party is a gift to the children of Havasu provided by the city government, community members and local businesses. Admission is a donation of a non-perishable food item or toy. Collections will be distributed through the town.

 

928MX 3rd Annual Havasu Grand Prix

The event is at the Lake Havasu Motocross Park at SARA Park. Gates open to the public 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, and 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Regular racing is 9 a.m. to 1p.m. Saturday (top track only); regular racing 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5-7p.m. Saturday, Sunday 6:30-11 a.m. Admission is $10 adults. $5 6-12 years old; 5 and younger free. Lake Havasu Symphonic Winds presents “A Symphonic Holiday”

The event is 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays at London Bridge Resort. Learn about the history of tea and the London Bridge while enjoying a variety of hot tasty, scones with clotted cream and jam, wafer cookies and cheesecakes. Cost is $10 per person.

 

Party Among the Trees
Lake Havasu Museum of History hosts a party among the Christmas Tree display at the museum. Hot wassail, caroling, and a visit from Santa are part of the evening fun. A custom tree, “Bows and Boughs” will be raffled off and can be taken home that evening. The event is free and open to the public from 4-6 p.m. The museum is located at 320 London Bridge Road.

 

Four Legged Lovers

Lake View Terrace & Dementia Connection of Havasu, in cooperation with London Bridge Pet Partners, is hosting this event from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, at Lake View Terrace Memory Care, 320 N. Lake Havasu Ave., in Havasu. It is a presentation about the positive psychological and physiological effects of having a pet partner.

 

FRIDAY, DEC. 16

14th annual Community Dinner

The event begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Aquatic Center, 100 Park Ave., in Havasu. Dinner includes turkey, ham, potatoes and gravy, dinner rolls, vegetables, and pie. Santa will be there, too. Last year, 500 attended. Everyone is welcome. Admission is free.

15th annual Drive-thru Nativity

The event is 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at New Hope Calvary Church (formerly Havasu Bible Fellowship) in 3735 London Bridge Rd, in Desert Hills. The live performance depicts the “Road to Bethlehem” and includes music, special lighting, actors, and live animals. Admission is free.

Delivery requests are asked to RSVP to 928-680-3678 by 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. The dinner is cost-free to all or anyone who would like a Christmas Day meal.

Audubon Society Christmas Bird Counts

The event is occurring in two locations, Bill Williams National Wildlife Refuge on Dec. 28, and Havasu National Wildlife Refuge on Dec. 29. Bill Williams is at 60911 State Route 95, in Parker. The Havasu NWR is just off Interstate 40 at Exit No. 1, Topock. The event centers on thousands of volunteers nationwide who venture out before dawn to spend the day counting birds through binoculars. The event is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at the Aquatic Center, 100 Park Ave., in Havasu. It is a showcase of modern firearms, ammunition, knives, coins, reloading supplies, jewelry, and leather goods. Admission is $8 daily per person.
