The Havasu 95 Speedway 2014-2015 Race Season’s last race, “The Night of Destruction”, began this Saturday.
Classes competing included Sam Nichols factory stocks and Vinnie’s Pizzeria Bandoleros, with the evening accentuated by a roaring Monster Truck performing a “Felcon” maneuver as it mowed over the cars beneath. Special events continued, including a Rollover Contest and the locally well-known Waterless Boat Races, this year including 13 drivers competing to be crowned the last boat standing. With that designation handed to team “The Griswolds” , the night concluded with a crowd pleasing pyrotechnic show, ushering out this year’s racing season.

Particularly pleasing to the crowd were the Bandoleros. A turnkey, spec-series racer designed for drivers as young as 8 years of age, the Bandolero is described as “remarkably simple to use,” operating “in a similar manner to a kart with left-foot braking.” These tiny racers are equipped with a centrifugal clutch, leaving no need for the driver to shift gears. The winner of the Bandolero race was Zach St. Ogne. The winner of the Factory Stocks race was Chris Blackwell.

Entertaining was the Waterless Boat races, this year featuring 13 cars pulling boats without trailers down the track behind them, as viewers cheered them on. The object of the race is to finish the competition with the remaining boat most intact. The track soon became littered with debris and broken pieces of splintered fiberglass, as the cars raced on. Havasu Speedway ended the evening with a fundraiser for local Lake Havasu resident, Taylor Coke. The race track raised $300 in donations for Coke.

Described as “the most scenic quarter mile track in the Southwest,” the Havasu 95 Speedway annually plays hosts throughout October–May to late models, modifieds, trucks, street and factory stocks, legends and Bandoleros. An ASA sanctioned paved oval track, the Havasu 95 Speedway operates as one of only three oval paved tracks in Arizona and the only located in the entire west of the state. Receiving special visits throughout the year, Havasu 95 warmly welcomes the Lucas Oil Modified Series, presented by Loanmart, ASA speed trucks, Legends, the Arizona Vintage Racing Association, and USAC Honda Ignite Midgets Motor Races.

Havasu 95 Speedway sponsors include Sam Nichols Electrical Inc., Hoosier Racing Tire, Budweiser, Sunco, Parker Oil Products, Quality Suites, In N Out Burger, Spruce Goose Cleaning Co. LLC, Car Quest, Little Caesar’s Hot & Ready Pizza, Pro Collision Center, Blue Water Resort & Casino and Bradley Ford.
