This year, perhaps more than any in recent memory, Americans are looking for help during the holiday season. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a damper on celebrations and has placed many families in difficult times. It’s no different in Lake Havasu City and the giving community is totally on board.

Colleen Matheson, of the Community Health Foundation Food Bank, said 60 Thanksgiving boxes were distributed by more than 15 volunteers Thursday and more will be provided today.

“We will continue Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon, for those Food Bank members that have received vouchers. If you are HCHF Food Bank member and have not received a voucher, you can come to the food bank on Tuesday between noon and 1,” Matheson said.

“You will not receive the entire Thanksgiving box but will most likely be able to pick up a turkey.”

Food Bank cards are required.

Matheson said the HCHF Food Bank has already distributed regular food boxes to 56 families in one day. The Iron Horse Saints also handed out coats at the Food Bank to those in need.
