An event geared to support local veterans in the community, hosted by the Veterans United Arizona organization this weekend, should appeal to anyone that wants to help. “Legends of Route 66” Bike Build-Off is set at Lake Havasu State Park. The focus is helping at-risk homeless veterans in Lake Havasu City and throughout Mohave County by fundraising and spreading awareness.

“We have been doing events like these since 2007 and it first started with our “Freedom Riders event,” said Sandy Seedorf, one of the event’s coordinators.
“This is the first year we have come up with the Bike Build-Off to help raise awareness for vets.”
According to Seedorf, 30 percent of the population in Mohave County is made up of veterans who are at times struggling and too proud to ask for help.
“We look for vets and provide them blankets and items they may need. We are so grateful to the community for coming together to help put together this fundraising event.”
This weekend’s activities will include a motorcycle build-off, live music, arm wrestling competitions, vendors, hot wheel races, and much more for the whole family.

The event is Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is $5 each day. For more information, call Sandy Seedorf at 928-230-5428, or Frankie Lyons at 928-486-7780.
