Soroptimist International of Lake Havasu City hosted the first Southwest Chowderfest  Saturday afternoon at Havasu 95 Speedway. The event replaced the long-standing Home and Garden Tour that had been cancelled last year because of the pandemic.

This year, the organization planned something new and it was a rousing success.

The Southwest Chowderfest featured local restaurants, local and out-of-town breweries, with live music and lots of fun. One-hundred percent of the profits go toward supporting women, children and families of the Lake Havasu City community.

Chis Newport of Soroptimist International said, “Wow. I think it went amazing. I don’t have an exact count of tickets sales but I think it was about 1,700 people. We asked each restaurant to bring 10 gallons of chowder and we ran out by 2 p.m.”
