Some residents have no family members in Havasu, but that doesn’t mean they must have Thanksgiving Dinner alone. Local organizations work together every year to provide a free dinner and family atmosphere on Thanksgiving Day.

The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner is provided by Our Lady of the Lake, Catholic Charities, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Interagency, and the Salvation Army. Dinner will be served from noon to 2 p.m. in the Parish Hall behind Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1975 Daytona Drive. All the traditional trimmings will be offered, including pies. Everyone in the community is welcome to come to dinner; it is not restricted to the homeless or those in need.

The Church is still looking for people to help with the dinner. Volunteers are asked to contact Dan Mathews at 928-706-5608 for more information.

Our Lady of the Lake asked parishioners to bring nonperishable food items to last Sunday’s 8:30 a.m. mass. Those donations were given to their Soup Kitchen to help the less fortunate.

Interagency provides Thanksgiving boxes for those in need. Those wanting to pick up a Thanksgiving box must sign up and provide two forms of ID and a current utility bill. Boxes will be distributed Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m at Interagency, 1940 Mesquite Ave.

The Lake Havasu Senior Center at 450 Acoma Blvd. S., is closed on Thanksgiving Day, but will serve Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 22 from 11:15 a.m. to noon, with a 24-hour reservation. Donations for the dinner are accepted.

Rich Crayne, of Pay It Forward Havasu, said they have received many generous donations from individuals and businesses in the community which enabled them to provide 38 families with Thanksgiving Dinners.

Dustin Runyon of the Facebook page “Only Orchids” said his group is accepting requests for Thanksgiving dinners through Thanksgiving Day. If you know of someone in need of a Thanksgiving dinner, send an email to Greg@summerlinAM.com with the family’s name and the best way to get in contact with them. Put “TGIVING” in the subject line.
