In partnership with Swiss America and the Valley of the Sun Kiwanis Club, Better Business Bureau (BBB) is offering $5,000 in financial aid to high school students in graduating classes 2020-2023. Students living in Mohave and La Paz counties, including Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City, Kingman, Parker and surrounding areas, are eligible to apply.

The Ethical Torch Essay program asks students to write a one-page essay on the subject of “The Importance of Ethics and Integrity in the Community.” There is no cost to enter, and no better time to take a stand on doing the right thing.

“School is back in session, and with the excitement of a new year, many high school students have started to plan for college. The expenses related to this significant step can be a daunting process for many families,” shares Kryistyna Hook, Regional Director for the Better Business Bureau Pacific Southwest Mohave Campus.’’

The deadline to submit essays and applications is Tuesday, Oct. 1. Five scholarships will be granted in the amounts of $500, $750, $1,000, $1,250 and $1,500. Winners will be recognized at the annual Torch Awards for Ethics celebratory dinner on Oct. 30, and presented with an award locally at their high school.

The BBB’s scholarship contest is part of the 2019 Torch Awards for Ethics which honors companies that demonstrate ethical business practices throughout operations, internally and to consumers.

Applications are accepted at torchessay.bbbcommunity.org or by contacting Kryistyna Hook, Regional Director at the BBB Mohave County Campus, at 928-302-3701 or kryistyna.hook@bbbcommunity.org for more details.
