Creative Comrades and SN Studios has partnered with Allied Arts Council and Only Orchids to host the inaugural Draw-A-Thon today. The event will be at F-106 Coworking Space, 1100 London Bridge Road, from 4-9 p.m.

All funds raised from the event will benefit the five art education departments of the LHUSD elementary schools. The goal of the fundraiser is $1,500 to be allocated equally among the schools.

“I’m not sure if this has been done in Havasu before. It is inspired by a studio event in Brooklyn, NY.” said event coordinator Aymie Spitzer.

There are two ways to participate in the nonprofit fundraiser.

First, community members can donate $20 to receive a hand drawn, unique piece of art made either pre-event or on the spot. All donations must be received through the designated GoFundMe account via link below.

The benefactor can either choose the subject of the drawing or leave it to the discretion of the artist for a special surprise. All donations are tax deduction eligible.

The second way to get involved is to participate as an artist in the event. There is no required skill level, just a love for art and a desire to give back to art education.

The artists will range from elementary aged youth to adult. All art supplies will be provided thanks to Creative Comrades, SN Studios, Only Orchids and Allied Arts.

There is no limit to artists. If interested, show up to F-106 at the allotted time to participate. No registration or RSVP required. Artists also have the opportunity to donate pieces that have been made prior to the event.

When the piece is completed, the recipient may pick up the work at F-106 during the event or the following Monday-Friday at the Partnership for Economic Development, 314 London Bridge Road, between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“[There will be] abstracts, and a lot of Arizona-themed pieces. They would make great Christmas gifts.”

The event will be live streamed with Facebook Live from the Creative Comrades Facebook page with artists working diligently and benefactors getting to see first hand the work being made just for them.
